Connet's spectral broadening unit has a built-in single-stage or multi-stage LiNbO3 optical phase modulator, coupled with a powerful RF amplifier, to achieve phase modulation of single-frequency signal light, so that it has symmetric multiple sidebands in the frequency domain. As a result, the carrier frequency power is affected by the sideband frequency components, reducing its stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) gain.

The spectral broadening unit can integrate Connet's specially designed wideband noise source (WNS), which is beneficial to enhance the overlap factor and maximize the threshold of SBS.

Connet's spectral broadening unit can customize the broadened spectral envelope range according to customer requirements, from several GHz to tens of GHz.
